Job Description:
Staff AccountantStatewide Safety Systems, classified as an
essential business, is the premier resource for providing work zone
traffic control services and products in the Western United States.
Work in a fast paced, exciting, dynamic environment with a
dedicated group of team players.The Staff Accountant provides
oversight of the company's treasury accounting process and
controls. Due to the sensitive nature of the position, the
candidate must work on-site in the corporate office location, not
remotely. The primary responsibilities include but are not limited
to management of the high volume of daily banking transactions,
recording electronic receipts and payments, preparation of accurate
and timely reconciliations for multiple entities and analysis of
financial information.Essential Functions:Daily Roles and
Responsibilities:process and clear a large number of ACHs, lockbox
deposits, incoming checks, credit card transactions and incoming
and outgoing wire transfers on a timely basis.Reconcile credit card
batch transactions daily to the bank using reports from
IQ/Vantivinvestigate positive pay exceptions and process to ensure
authorized checks and ACHs are paid.provide accounts payable a
listing of outgoing ACHs and wiresprovide daily bank reports to AR
and managementmonitor bank account balances and report to
management based on established thresholdsrun credit card
transactions upon request for all branchesMonthly Roles and
Responsibilities:develop and maintain large sets of financial data
with use of Excel and other tools to summarize the data in order to
reconcile accounts.timely reconcile operating and collection bank
accounts from multiple banks institutions for several entities. (25
bank accounts; 11 with heavy volume of transactions)ensure accurate
and appropriate recording and analysis of multiple bank accounts
(checks, cash, credit cards, ACH, etc.) related to AR, AP, and all
other cash applications.Ongoing Roles and Responsibilities:compile
and analyze financial information to prepare reconciliations and
journal entriesprocess check inquiries on a timely basis (research
if check is paid, pull copy of check or place stop payment on
unpaid checks).identify EPA(ACH debits) exceptions and follow
through to set-up account properly.assist in the preparation of
bank documents when needed (signature cards, new bank
features).ensure financial records are maintained in compliance
with accepted policies and procedures in accordance with GAAPbank
account maintenance including account service updates, analysis of
fees and insuring integrity of internal bank account dataestablish
and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting
control proceduresresolve accounting discrepancies and
irregularitiesinvolvement in streamlining the role through new uses
of technology in order to be involved in other accounting
areas.directly engage with senior management, specifically around
the treasury function and overall cash management, funding
requirements, and projections.assist with special projects and work
with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department with
monthly reporting and ad hoc financial analysis as neededKnowledge
and Skill:heavy bank reconciliation experience with accounts with a
large number of transactionsexperience with credit card processing
portals. Experience with IQ/Vantiv is preferredaccounting degree or
equivalentknowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
(GAAP)knowledge of economic principlesknowledge of auditing
practices and principlesknowledge of applicable laws, codes and
regulationsproficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn and
use job specific computer programsadvanced Excel skills - pivot
tables, lookups, index, index/match and handling large amounts of
dataideally 2-3 years of experience in treasury or accounting, high
degree of attention to detail and accuracyfamiliarity with the
processes, concepts, methods and tools for maintaining accurate and
thorough records of financial
