Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision is seeking a Senior Manager, Professional Education , responsible for managing the development of content and execution of education programs that support the clinical and technical knowledge transfer of new and existing product and procedural solutions to both surgeons and their staff. This will be achieved through strong clinical / customer knowledge along with exceptional collaboration and teamwork with Faculty, Medical Affairs, Marketing, R&D, Sales, Compliance, Regulatory, Legal and Education teams.

Responsible for the hiring and management of all Professional Education staff. Manage the Professional Education Budget within the overall Education book of business. Create specific goals to assist with the development of the team and curriculum. Lead the curriculum development process based on documented assessments with multiple parties. Conduct and manage on-going gap analysis for the organization to assist with new content development. Manage the training needed for all surgeons and staff for J&J Surgical Vision and assist with the development as needed. Develop long term objectives and short-term goals within the Professional Education team to assist with the on-going improvement of clinical and product knowledge for surgeons and staff. Lead all new product innovations for surgeons and staff including content development, live/virtual activities, and on-going training.

Assist the Director with overall growth of the Education team within J&J Surgical Vision.

This job is not eligible for sales incentives/sales commissions.

Responsibilities

Professional Education
Develops educational strategies and implements programs to support physician engagement and procedural adoption
Develops pool of physician faculty to support peer-to-peer opportunities; includes defining annual needs, identification of qualified key opinion leaders, HCP contracting, training, engagement, tracking of hours, and payment
Oversees coordination and execution of all Professional education programs, including contracting/totality processes, agenda development, logistics planning, appropriate use of internal resources, post-visit action items and accountability
Creates tools and program collateral as appropriate (e.g., communication and/or tracking data, program calendar, brochure, decision guides, etc.)
Develops and maintains relationships with physicians and staff
Track program performance and implement relevant feedback into future programs
Leads, influences, coaches, cross-functional teams to enable successful educational activities for customers & other external stakeholders. Leverage expertise from within the organization to accomplish operational and training objectives.
Lead Professional Education projects through application of Customer Insights and Strategic Planning to develop and implement new education offerings to meet business plan requirements. Develop measurable project plans with clear objectives, milestones, resource requirements, and deliverables. Manages priorities to ensure maximum effectiveness. Translate customer insights to the broader organization.
Develops new and utilizes existing technology to effectively reach multiple stakeholders to engage and reinforce key learning concepts throughout the Education Continuum; optimize the education modality for the most effective and efficient approach
Partners cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Program Management, Regulatory, Clinical and other departments as needed to establish and lead the development of educational project priorities and allocate resources appropriately
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
Understand clinical educational gaps and needs and how these interplay with strategic priorities
Develops and executes a Professional Education Strategy & Tactical plan
Department Leadership
Manages Professional Education staff, including hiring, goal setting, performance reviews, and time management
Holds team members accountable and incentivizes performance for strong cultural engagement
Manage all sales Education curriculum within compliance of all government, FDA, or legal requirements
Regular 1:1's with direct reports to set clear expectations on goals and objectives, provide ongoing coaching/feedback, and support talent development
Remains informed on company and competitive products and services
Participates in company and industry events such as sales meetings, seminars, training programs, conventions, trade shows, and other events as requested
Meets department financial objectives by forecasting training requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, and analyzing variances
Analyzes and reports on department metrics monthly, quarterly, annually

Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study. Advanced degree preferred
8-10 years of professional work experience
Minimum of 8 years of medical device experience required
Demonstrated track record of people leadership and education experience
Experience leading, coaching and building and developing high performing teams is required
Ability to travel up to 50%.
Experience in building educational curriculum
Experience managing a large budget
Knowledge of computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, Internet applications, etc.) required
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Superior interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with surgeons
Ability to organize and prioritize workflow to meet established timeframes
Ability to work within a cross-functional team and matrix management structure
Strong attention to details
Ability to represent the company at a variety of business functions or situations in a professional and competent manner
Ability to exercise independent judgment consistent with department guidelines
Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of procedures, products, and activities
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team environment
Ability to work under pressure
Ophthalmology Experience
Product launch experience
High level of virtual and live facilitation skills
Knowledge of live, virtual, and online training tools
Knowledge of tradeshow and clinical presentation strategies
