Position Overview
This is an application-based, hands-on role where you will
challenge the status quo and be tested by the varied rigors of
manufacturing. The Quality Engineer will drive development and
execution of process/policy in support of production. Successful
candidates will gain dynamic cross-functional exposure and wield
operational leadership within Romeo Power Technology, driving world
class processes to End Energy Poverty. -
Key Roles and Responsibilities -
- Collaborate with other members of the engineering staff to
support both internal and external quality efforts.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining business processes
FMEA's, MRB and NCs
- Investigate quality problems that escape to our customers and
are discovered in house with the goal of leading problem-solving
teams to develop corrective actions that prevent the reoccurrence
of the issue.
- Develop and implement proactive Quality methodologies to
transform the workspace from a reactionary organization to a
proactive organization.
- Must analyze process problem situations by reviewing facts and
creating solutions using operational and engineering guidelines,
procedures, regulations, industry standards, and past
successes.
- Interacts with QC, Production, and Engineering in discussing
and resolving complicated data and/or information with all levels
of involved department personnel.
- Monitor quality performance data used to track progress to
goals and to drive root cause corrective action; involve other
functions and assist each team with actions to drive performance
improvements. Use fact-based decision-making processes including 6
Sigma, Lean and other forms of statistical-based problem-solving
tools.
- Provide training to individuals whose work affects quality
issues in the requirements of the QMS.
- Participate in internal audits, corrective action programs, and
continuous improvement events providing hands-on support.
- Drive Prediction, Prevention, and Protection of quality issues
and risk mitigation solutions
- Support the Production team through robust definition and
management of cross-functional rules of engagement, especially as
they relate to achieving OEE targets on the production
line
- Continuously improve engineering capabilities - Create and
refine processes, design guidelines, and engineering tools to
enable efficient and repeatable long-term production
- Lead cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing,
and test engineering to solve technical issues and mitigate
utilization/performance/yield detractors
- Support APQP activities: Voice of the Customer, DFM/A, Design
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification
Plan and Report (DVP&R), - Production Parts Approval Process
(PPAP). -
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial
Engineering, or Materials Science
- 3 years of work experience in electronics manufacturing,
high-volume production in aerospace, automotive or medical device
industries
- Thorough understanding of AIAG, PPAP, ISO9001, ISO14001, IATF
16949, ISO 26262, requirements or equivalent
- Internal Auditor experience with ISO 9001 and IATF
16949
- Support the customer facing Quality organization in response to
customer special requests, audits, and quality concerns.
- Quality Engineering and Advanced Quality principles (Six Sigma
methodology, Root Cause/Corrective Action, DMAIC, Design for
Manufacturability).
- The relationship between Quality standards and
processes
- How NCR (Non-Conformance Reporting) and MRB (Material Review
Boards), Corrective Action Review Board (CARB), Change Control
Board (CCB) are incorporated into the Quality process
- Principles of 8D, Fishbone, Five-Why and PFMEA
- Advanced Excel skills / Trend Analysis
- Experience with data analysis/database tools a plus (Excel,
JMP, Minitab, SQL)
