Join the Clean Energy Revolution The Distribution Field Engineer is
typically responsible for developing detailed engineering analysis
and studies required to address distribution system needs and/or
requirements for grid projects, programs, or initiatives in their
assigned geographic area. They will be expected to mentor and
provide guidance to interns and entry level engineers. They will in
turn be supported by Engineer 3s and Senior Engineers on more
complex and novel system issues beyond their experience and
expertise. Field Engineering is the face of SCE engineering to our
customers and a key player in the evolving Smart Grid landscape.
We're on the front line working to integrate Fault Location,
Isolation and Service Restoration (FLISR) schemes, Microgrids,
Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and Remote Grids to improve
the resiliency, reliability and safety of the electric grid as we
toward a more cleaner, more electrified future. A day in the life -

- Responsible for generating accurate and consistent scope per
the tenants of the capital programs as defined in the General Rate
Case (GRC) for:
- Grid Modernization Program
- Grid Resiliency and Wildfire Mitigation Programs
- Infrastructure replacement programs
- Collaborate with Technical Planning throughout the design
process to balance affordability and operability
- Partners with Distribution System Planning to provide detailed
scope based on high level needs for projects based on the annual
Distribution Substation Program including:
- Projects to Request for Proposal (RFP) as part of Distribution
Infrastructure Deferral Framework (DIDF)
- New Circuits
- Identification of need for capital projects, sponsoring and/or
generating scope to address capacity, reliability, and safety
- Conduct Load flow studies
- Support prioritization of in-flight distribution projects
- Provide technical support and delivering technical
presentations to internal and external customers as subject matter
experts for various programs and initiatives
- Serving as a first call duty engineer three to four weeks a
year
- Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following
Edison's safety protocols and safe work practices in addition to
providing support with all other duties assigned Qualifications
The essentials
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related STEM field
- Two years of experience or more working as an Engineer
- CA Driver's License The preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power
Emphasis.
- Professional Engineer's (PE) License or an EIT certificate
working towards attaining a PE
- Experience with developing and conducting training
programs.
- Experience with power system transmission or distribution
analysis tools, such as PSLF, OMS, DMS, EMS, CYME, CAPE, and/or
MDI.
- Ability to interface, communicate effectively and collaborate
with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of
management enterprise-wide to develop solutions and ensure partner
agreement You should know
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report
to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work
remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees
are required to reside in the state of California. Further details

- Position will require up to 15% traveling and being out in the
field throughout SCE service territory.
- This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted
position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass
a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once
hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to
gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing
necessary job duties. Testing
