Job Overview:
Shepherd the Fly-by-Wire (FBW) system from program configuration to the longer-term baseline appropriate for the certifiable product. This role will be reporting to the Chief Engineer.
*Full time, Direct hire, Remote -

  • Hiring and Team Growth

    • As required, identify key personnel needs and work with the recruiting team to draft job requisitions, conduct interviews to build out the team.

    • Support SIL testing and S/W Development

      • Peer review development test plans, results, and proposed design changes. -
      • Support design modifications and revisions
      • This will require some on-site support as required (approximate 25-50% time during key phases)

      • Support A/C Bring Up Testing

        • Peer review a/c acceptance test procedures (ATPs), engineering test procedures (ETPs) for the FBW and avionics, electrical, propulsion systems, data links, ground station and instrumentation, and DAQ as the vehicle completes key build milestones
        • This will require some on-site support as required (approximate 25-50% time during key phases)

        • Actuation Implementation

          • Work closely with the Flight Sciences to close the design of the actuation system for the vehicle. - This will involve modifications to the FBW system to support the interface as well as the additional complex hardware and software items.

          • Finalize Conceptual Design - FBW Systems

            • Complete any necessary trade studies and finalize the baseline system configuration.

            • Vendor Management

              • Assess vendor capabilities in the areas of flight-control computing, sensors, and avionics. Work with strategic sourcing to draft RFIs/RFPs/RFQs. Serve as the Overair technical POC for the vendors during these discussions. Prepare a down selection justification summary(s) for Overair leadership in concert with the maturation of a baseline system architecture. - -

              • Preliminary Design and- FBW System

                • Support the maturation of the system safety artifacts (AFHA, PSSA--- etc.) - This will also require the standup of small teams to conduct focused trade studies w/rt various design approaches to audit the assumptions being made by the team regarding the criticality of certain failure modes and the best means of effecting the optimum design solution.
                • Work with the systems engineering team to draft the governing design documents to support the advancement of the FBW system design. - -

                      Overair expects to pay: $180,000 - $250,000 per year. Your level and the compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
