WARNING: Always be on the lookout for job scams! -Learn more Director of Operations Chick-fil-A at the District FSU Occupation: Managers, All Other -Director Job Description Chick-fil-A 17 th at Tustinis a fast-food restaurant that exists with the purpose of making our community a better place to live. We do our best to serve, and that drives everything we do. - Peter Brakke is the franchise operator of this new restaurant, coming with nine years of experience as the franchise operator of Chick-fil-A at the District, in Tustin. The restaurant is projected to open in early February 2022, with training of the three directors occurring in January 2022. A director will oversee three managers in areas such as: customer service, kitchen operations, business administration, and front of house operations. The main role of Directors in the restaurant is focused on leading and inspiring the team. This means contributing to a positive work environment by regularly providing meaningful feedback to team members, recognizing exceptional performance, and always recruiting potential team members. Directors need to be effective problem solvers and system creators, identifying where the restaurant can improve in productivity and efficiency, without compromising the customer experience. Each of the three Directors will have some responsibility over People, Quality and Customer Experience, Sales & Brand Growth and Financial Stewardship. Director Responsibilities:

  • Be the Example: Directors set the standard for the rest of the team, they are the example and must act according to all Chick-fil-A values and expectations.
  • Financial Stewardship : Directors must consider every expense of the business and be able to justify if the expense is one that the business should make and eliminate expenses when it is determined that expense is not helping us achieve any stated goals and thereby unnecessary.
  • Train and Coach at all levels: This can be done on the spot to correct a process and at other times it might mean taking team members through training on a specific topic
  • People Selection: Directors are the people interviewing and selecting the team, with input from the managers over the area of the business being hired for.
  • Effective Communicator: Ability to navigate all situations, ensuring all parties are treated with honor, dignity, and respect
  • Engage with the Team: Directors know the team as individuals, how to communicate with them, motivate them, and help them grow.
  • Customer Awareness: Always work towards improving the customer experience.
  • Coaching Mentality: Provide feedback on processes, strategies and performance at all levels of the organization.
  • Visionary: Helping to cast vision, create goals and implement plans of actions to reach these goals is of utmost importance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to value both relationships and results and to put others above themselves. Specific expectations:
    • People Development: Proficient in recruiting new team members, with a goal of 3 new hires during the 2022 year being recruited by the director
    • Meet with the Operator/Leaders regularly : providing an agenda prior to the meeting with agreed upon metrics, follow up from previous action items and updates on work being done. Directors are expected to present solutions to problems brought forward in director meetings.
    • Restaurant Operations : It is expected that a Director is trained to function in any role of the restaurant, including front counter, drive thru, catering and kitchen positions. At all times directors should be able to pass all tests given to team members testing knowledge on any aspect of the restaurant. Each week it will be expected for all directors to work at a minimum 15 hours per week in operations, ideally with at least one shift during breakfast and one during closing
    • Restaurant Communication : Directors will be available to all leaders in the restaurant for assistance in developing new processes for any area of the business Minimum Requirements
      • Over the age of 18 with a valid driver's license
      • ServSafe certified, obtained independently by the director and certification must remain in effect for the entirety the individual is in the Director role
      • Excellent business communication and presentation skills
      • Experience recruiting and developing a strong, diverse team
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and general knowledge of Google docs
      • A positive, service-focused mindset The Ideal Candidate
        • Proven Leader: Experience leading a team of at least 5-10 individuals, however ideally holding a position with at least 20 people reporting to you.
        • Self-Driven: This role operates very independently and performance is primarily determined by the team results.
        • Experience identifying opportunities and creating systems : A director at the restaurant needs to have the ability to step back from situations and access if the current process is effective and efficient. If this isn't the case, the director needs to bring a skill set to develop a new system or process to improve performance.
        • Servant Leader: On our team, there is not a task or position below anyone. A willingness to do what it takes to support the team is critical.
        • Ownership Mentality: -The ability to consider decisions from the perspective of being the owner of the business is important.
        • Educational background; Having formal training or education in business, leadership or communication are all examples of a candidate we think would bring relevant skills to our team. Benefits and Compensation
          • Work week is Monday-Saturday, five days per week and 40-50 hours, with schedule flexibility
          • Depending on experience a salary for a director will range from $65,000-$80,000 annually
          • Health Insurance is available and supplemented
