The leader will be a strategic communications partner to the executive team, and will design and implement a strategy that cultivates organizational change and galvanizes stakeholders to achieve business goals.
The leader will develop a comprehensive strategy that reaches internal and external audiences to promote the brand and enhance Allied Universal's reputation across North America. The right candidate will provide expertise and innovative approaches to define, drive and evaluate the effectiveness of internal and external communications, including corporate communications, public relations, media relations and social media.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's communication function across the Americas
  • Handle daily crisis communication and coordination of media, external and internal responses and talking points
  • Manage media relations, serves as company spokesperson and fields/responds to reporter requests for interviews and information
  • Develop and execute a public relations strategy that cultivates strong relationships with media representatives to create opportunities for growing the thought leadership position of the company and its solutions in the security industry
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external media outlets to drive investor relations communications and messaging
  • Develop ideas and opportunities for press releases, feature articles, solution launches, success stories, case studies, personnel announcements interviews and other activities that promote awareness of and positive image for the company and its solutions
  • Support the development of communication plans for executive level / C-Suite, including presentations for the executive team, ensuring alignment with overall organizational messaging
  • Seek and implement creative new delivery methods for communicating key messages to both internal and external audiences, including digital, video and social
  • Plan and implement top quality internal communication strategies, partnering cross-functionally and across business units and regions to ensure key messages are consistent and employees are informed about issues that affect company culture and performance delivery
  • Identify and execute short- and long-term communications strategies and tactics to support the company in achieving profits, growth or other goals of the organization
  • Develop metrics and execute consistent review and analysis of data to measure the effectiveness, impact and engagement of communications programs and special projects
  • Create, implement and manage communications programs that support transformation initiatives, including strategic planning, promoting two-way dialogue and connecting employees to one another and to the leadership team
  • Partner with stakeholders on the execution of regional organizational change management plans, devising strategies to counter resistance and align stakeholders to the overall strategic direction of the organization
  • Translate the strategic and tactical business plans into clear, consumable communications.
  • Continually assesses all communications strategies; all programs/options and develop competitive intelligence from relevant comparable companies
  • Maintain knowledge of trends of updated communications methods, programs, compliance, and issues. Provides advice and knowledge of effective communication plans to others within the department.
    Qualifications:A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or related field is required. MBA is preferred. In addition, we are looking for:
    • Minimum of 10 years' experience in business to business (B2B), marketing or communications
    • Excellent communicator with a proven ability to clearly convey complex ideas and strategy in terms that can be understood by a variety of audiences and education levels
    • Proven ability to drive thought leadership throughout a large organization and to position a corporation as a thought leader to external audiences
    • Expertise in storytelling and message development in large corporate cultures
    • Expertise in developing and overseeing a national crisis communication strategy, program and policy
    • Proven track record of counseling and training senior executives on corporate communication policies and crisis response management
    • Experience managing investor relations communications and messaging
    • Strong interpersonal skills and poise; ability to work well with executives, team members, customers, sales and marketing
    • Adept at understanding nuances and audiences; understands multiple perspectives of an issue or conflict and can speak to both sides
    • Ability to be trusted with highly confidential information and to provide communications council in times of crisis
    • Engaged leader with prior success in building teams and developing, engaging and retaining talent
    • High self-motivation with a sense of urgency
