Overview:The Medical Support Specialist - Certified Translator (MSS-CT) provide translation/interpretation as needed while performing routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician as well as supports in other areas of the facility as needed including registration and referral management. This role requires efficient and accurate delivery of one-on-one patient care while thriving in a fast-paced environment. The MSS-CT ensures that every patient is treated the Concentra Way with quality clinical care and providing an excellent patient experience from welcoming, respectful, and skillful colleagues.Responsibilities:Medical Translation/InterpretationEnsure clarity of communication between providers and patientsProvide effective communication to promote trust and compliance with prescribed careMedical SupportPerform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testingPrepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testingPerform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)Assist providers during examination and treatmentResponsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as neededPrepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury careApply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinicianDispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulationsComplete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the centerMaintain supplies, cleans rooms and equipment, and stocks exam roomsMaintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and proceduresNotify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expectedIn partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volumeKeep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visitResponsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keepingEnsure accuracy in documentationPerform front office duties including greeting patients, obtaining authorization, check in/out, communicating wait times, answering multi-line telephone system, distributing employer results/paperwork as neededFollow HIPAA guidelines and safety rulesAttend center staff meetings or huddles as requiredAssist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facilityThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Qualifications:EDUCATION/CREDENTIALSMedical Assistant Certification from an accredited school (credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations) or Military Medical Specialist with current Medical Assistant credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulationsCMI Credential (Certified Medical Interpreter) in the state of California by the National Board of Certification for Medical InterpretersJOB-RELATED EXPERIENCECustomarily has at least six months medical assistant experienceWorking knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific)Knowledge of medical procedures and medical terminologyPrevious medical office experienceJOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIESConcentra Core Competencies of Service Mentality, Attention to Detail, Sense of Urgency, Initiative and FlexibilityAbility to make decisions or solve problems by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutionsOutstanding customer service skills as well as the ability to deal with people in a manner which shows tact and professionalismThe ability to properly handle sensitive and confidential information (including HIPAA and PHI) in accordance with federal and state laws and company policiesAble to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, and professional and effective mannerTeamwork focus with peers and center leadership team; ability to maintain working relationship with all levels of colleaguesExcellent customer service skillsMust successfully complete orientation and training as well as demonstrate competency in all required medical tasks; display a willingness to participate in initial and ongoing training as requiredObtain all certifications required of Medical Support Specialists including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids CollectionIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook and entry of data into various systems/applications
