As a Data Scientist on the team, you will work closely with the team to incorporate data science concepts into ongoing and future projects. This work is under the direction of a Senior Scientist supervisor and part of a growing multidisciplinary team that will lead to the support of new capabilities. The Data Scientist is someone who is interested in applying these capabilities to have a direct impact on new products and services.**External US Responsibilities:* Work with the team to plan and execute high throughput projects with large and diverse datasets* Work with scientists and utilize programming experience to create workflows for data collection, organization and analysis * Lead or support collaborative efforts to support other groups in R&D* Utilize statistical models to drive the media development process* Liaison with other data science/machine learning teams in FUJIFILM sister companies to collaborate on machine learning and artificial intelligence projects* Design experiments and interpret data from NGS projects* Prepare formal reports and presentations for group meetings* Actively participate in group/project meetings* Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications* Adhere to Good Documentation Practices & Good Laboratory PracticesExperience/ Education:* PhD in Bioinformatics or related field strongly preferred; Master's Degree in Bioinformatics or related field, plus 5 years of industry experience may be considered* Programming proficiency using Python and R* Experience with data analysis and visualization software such as Spotfire or R-shiny* Experience with NGS analysis tools* Basic knowledge of machine learning applied to large and diverse data sets* Strong statistical knowledge and experience with software such as SIMCA, Design Expert, or Minitab* Familiar with basic concepts in molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology, and/or biochemistry* Passion for and an understanding of the Life Sciences* Ability to use professional concepts, company's policies, and procedures to perform a wide range of assigned work and solve complex problems* Ability to demonstrate potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought* General knowledge of project management* General knowledge of GMP and GLP procedures* Excellent English verbal and written communication skillsFujifilm Irvine Scientific is an equal opportunity employer.
