Reports to : Youth and Education Program Manager Project : Project Kinship Status: Non-Exempt Work Schedule : Seasonal- School Year (August-June) Salary Range : Commensurate with experience Position Summary : Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Restorative Practices Intervention Specialist will facilitate and co-facilitate Community Building Circles, Restorative Conferences, Restorative Conversations, and Support Circles etc. amongst students and staff at assigned school district sites. Essential Functions/Responsibilities Plan and coordinate logistics of Circle practices, pre-conference with all parties involved in upcoming Restorative Conferencing and Support circles. Offer coaching, technical assistance and support to staff and students in facilitation of Community Building Circles, Restorative Conferences, Restorative Conversations, and Support Circles etc. Assist with developing tools for best practices such as templates, videos and presentations Provide Professional Development workshops for staff and students. Provide follow-up with students and staff to recognize incidents related to the purpose of circles. Lead Interventions for at-risk adolescent students and their families needing support, mentoring, life skills development and coaching. Provide Prevention and Intervention mediation services for behaviors such as bullying, aggressive behavior and cyber-specific bullying. Provide intensive case management for students and their families who need additional resources such as referrals to providers and assistance for gaining access to care. Collaborate effectively with other community organizations, county services, school districts, and wrap around services to establish a continuity of care for "warm handoff" linkages for clients. Maintain documentation such as case logs, on-site documentation, sign-in sheets, etc., for audits according to quality assurance and compliance standards. Commit to the agency's Mission, Vision, and Values; represent actions that define the overall philosophy and objectives of the agency. Work a flexible schedule outside of business hours, including weekends and evening hours, as the need arises or to support the program and leadership. Collaborate effectively with the school site personnel, school district officials, other community organizations, county services, and wrap-around services to establish continuity of care and needed referrals for the students and their families with attention to cultural relevance and competency. Attend trainings at Project Kinship, school district, or other sites as needed. Attend meetings from assigned school site meetings, school district, and agency meetings (COST meetings, team staff meetings, PSS meetings, all staff meetings, etc.) Other duties as assigned from management. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience At least one year of Restorative Practices and Violence Prevention experience Valid California Driver's License and transportation to travel to meetings, conferences and trainings. Skills and Abilities Ability to work both on a multidisciplinary team as well as independently Excellent communicator- strong presentation skills Proficiency in writing, speaking and reading Excellent written skills- ability to read, analyze and produce reports Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity to multiple cultures and underserved youth living in Central Orange County Strong organizational skills Ability to maintain client confidentiality Bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural preferred Competencies Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments. Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
