tomorrow. In this job, you'll responsible for the growth, testing,
and deployment of automation devices and systems throughout SCE's
territory. The Automation Engineer supports work streams developing
new and existing automation technology as well as evaluates the
performance to improve the reliability and operation of the
distribution system. Distribution Automation works directly with
Grid Operations and Field Crews to support real time operations for
testing and troubleshooting automated devices and systems. As
aDistribution Automation Engineer 2, your work will help power our
planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for

- Perform and support studies and field tests for automation
projects and device evaluations
- Manage project from pilot to small-scale deployment and
large-scale deployment
- Partner with stakeholders to support with scoping criteria,
design, and training
- Support the implementation and maintenance of FLISR, LVM, DERMS
as part of GMS/ADMS project
- Perform root cause analysis for malfunctions and device
failures
- Program and evaluate device testing with field crews to verify
device capabilities and health.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on Distribution Automation
internally and externally
- Perform in a leadership function by mentoring and training
other engineers within the organization
- Collaborate with key personnel and vendors to develop and
improve automated devices Qualifications
The essentials
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or other related
Scientific, Technical, Math or Engineering disciplines
- Two (2) or more years of engineering experience
- Experience with electrical utility distribution operations and
equipment The preferred
- Experience with distribution system design, operation, and
analysis
- Coding experience in VBA, SQL, Python
- Experience with power system transmission or distribution
analysis tools such as OMS, DMS, EMS, and CYME or other similar
software
- Power system engineering analysis including knowledge of
applicable laws, standards, codes, and analysis software such as
CYME
- Project management experience
- Developing and delivering technical presentations to both
technical and non-technical audiences
- California EIT certificate
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly excel
- Microsoft Power Apps You should know
- This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report
to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work
remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees
are required to reside in the state of California. Further details
of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
